He is the Founder and Managing Partner of Two Bear Capital, a venture capital firm headquartered in Whitefish, Montana with offices in Silicon Valley, San Diego, New York City, and Boston. Since 2019, Two Bear Capital, Mike and his team of deep domain experts have led early-stage investments in more than 20 new companies pioneering breakthrough solutions in biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, information security, post-quantum cybersecurity, healthcare IT, and AI.
During a nearly 20-year career at Sequoia Capital, Mike sponsored and led 54 early- and growth-stage company investments to a combined market value exceeding $67 billion. Of those 54 companies, Mike had three exits above $10 billion in peak market value, six above $1 billion, 11 above $500 million and 26 above $100 million. Three more of Mike’s early-stage Sequoia investments were recently added to the list of over $1 billion valuation “unicorns.” He led investments across deep tech and biotech sectors including cybersecurity, bioinformatics, biopharma, IT infrastructure, and semiconductors.
Prior to joining Sequoia, Mike spent ten years in various engineering, research, product management, and leadership roles in fast-growing technology companies. Mike has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. Mike is also an active philanthropist and a founder and first responder with Two Bear Air.
